Week Program, Semester Week 4#

Complex Numbers and Polynomials#

This week we continue our study of complex numbers. In particular, the complex exponential function is used for defining the polar form of a complex number. We will also work with polynomials and some of their properties. Polynomials are expressions that appear in many connections in later courses and that will appear again in later with in this course.

Key Terms#

Polar form of a complex number. Polynomials and their roots. Second-degree polynomials. Polynomials with real roots. The binomial equation.

Preperation and Syllabus#

This week covers section 3.6 from [03 - Complex numbers] and sections 4.1 through 4.4 from [04 - Polynomials].

Exercises#

Exercises for Long Day

Short day is dedicated to Theme Exercise 1. (See the description of Theme Exercises here. Theme Exercise 1 will be available via a link on the semester overview a few days before Short Day this week.)
